$11.5mil
City of Newport Beach
1999
Griffith Company constructed two phases of MacArthur Blvd totaling over $11 million for the City of Newport Beach. The first phase, from Pacific Coast Highway to San Joaquin Hills Road, involved widening the high-visibility roadway adjacent to the prestigious shopping center, Fashion Island. Griffith Company met with local community watch groups to ensure compliance with community standards, while also maintaining the safe flow of traffic. After uncovering a Native American burial site, Griffith Company enlisted the participation of a local tribe and archeologists. We performed selective grading operations and prepared a new site for the proper reburial of the remains. During the second phase of the project, we constructed MacArthur from Ford Road to San Joaquin Hills. As with the first phase, construction was completed per Caltrans specifications, and involved traffic and neighborhood challenges. Griffith Company’s partnering process and sensitivity to the community helped ensure the success of the project. Our specialty crews provided the grading, paving, concrete, underground utilities, box culverts, decorative retaining walls and landscaping that transformed this roadway into a beautiful stretch of highway.
